Major Diseases Encountered in Rainbow Trout Reared in Recircul
نویسنده
چکیده
Recirculation systems create unique environments for fish culture. Opportunistic microorganisms may cause disease due to favorable conditions occurring in recirculation systems. The biofilters used may become reservoirs of infectious microorganisms. Stressful conditions such as suspended solids in culture tanks and high rearing densities may contribute to disease outbreaks. Additionally, noninfectious problems such as high nitrite, elevated carbon dioxide or high ozone levels may cause mortalities or produce stress. The major infectious diseases which have been encountered in trout reared in recirculation systems include: bacterial gill disease, furunculosis, amoebic infestation, Colegs sp. infestation, and the parasites Gyrodactylus, Chilodonella, Triichnoodaiina, Ichthyopthirius, and Ichtyobodo. Because eradication is particularly difficult in a water reuse culture system, to prevent introduction of infectious diseases and to reduce disease occurrence, it is important to check the fingerlings before stocking and to maintain optimum environmental conditions in the system. Disease problems are usually controllable if action is taken at the onset to stop spread of infection and steps taken to correct the stress that may have triggered the outbreak. Treatments in recirculation systems may affect biofilter function.

The aim of the present study is to investigate the growth performance and sexual maturation process of female rainbow trout reared in a cage in the Caspian Sea (Mazandaran- Nowshahr). Rainbow trout with an average weight of 122± 5 g were stocked into a cage located in Caspian Sea. Fish were fed daily and random sampling was done monthly (January 2015) to May 2016. Weight and length of thirty fi...
متن کاملEffects of different culture densities on growth performance and stress, immune, and metabolic responses in rainbow trout
Determining the optimal culture density is necessary to improve fish performance and profitability. A total of 1350 rainbow trout with an average initial weight of 30±1.5 g were obtained. Then, the fish were randomly distributed in 12 fiberglass tanks and reared at densities of 15, 30, 45 and 60 kg/m3 for 60 days. The final weight, weight gain, and protein efficiency ratio were significantly hi...
متن کاملAn investigation on the effects of juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) monoculture and duo-culture farming in freshwater and seawater on growth performance
The objective of this study was to compare growth performance and feed conversion ratios of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and brook trout (Salvelinus fontinalis) juveniles in monoculture and duo-culture in freshwater and seawater under aquarium conditions. The fish were about 2-months old hatchery-reared brook and rainbow trout with initial weights of 0.934±0.033 (n=360) and 1.014±0.019 (...
